The Holiday Inn Bristol Airport is the closest hotel to Bristol Airport. The hotel is located on the A38 and its full address is Bridgwater Road, Redhill, Bristol, BS40 5RB. It can be contacted by telephone on +44 (0)1934 861123. When male Curious Traveller recently found himself having to take an early morning flight out of Bristol, The Holiday Inn Bristol Airport was where he stayed the night before. He found it to be comfortable, friendly and convenient in the extreme - if a little pricey - and this page is the story of his stay.

Arrival at The Holiday Inn Bristol Airport

I only booked my stay at The Holiday Inn Bristol Airport on the day of my arrival and actually found the hotel by doing a Google search on the closest hotel to Bristol Airport. Although the tariff of £80.00 (approx US$120) for room only was what I considered a bit steep, I really had little alternative other than to agree to it.

I arrived at the hotel in the mid afternoon to be greeted by two extremely friendly and efficient reception staff. They processed my check-in and advised me that a shuttle service was available to take me to Bristol Airport, twenty-four hours a day, at a cost of £2. The hotel is only three miles from the airport and the journey takes no more than ten minutes. I therefore booked this service and made for my room.

The Rooms in The Holiday Inn Bristol Airport

The rooms in The Holiday Inn Bristol Airport are available as smoking and non-smoking. They have TV's and access to subscription movie channels. They also have a writing desk and a king size bed. I can honestly say that I had the best sleep I had experienced in months if not years in this bed - though that was perhaps in part due to my socialising on the terrace that evening, as explained below.

All the rooms are en-suite, with a bath and what was in my case at least a good quality shower.

The Terrace at The Holiday Inn Bristol Airport

I was extremely fortunate in that the weather was absolutely beautiful during my stay at The Holiday Inn Bristol Airport. The sun was shining and the heat remained in the air well in to the evening. I therefore sat out on the terrace, enjoying the sunshine with a couple of fellow travellers I encountered and sampling some of the beer and single malts available from the hotel bar. The company was good, the beer was good and - as ever - the single malts were fantastic!

Restaurant 38 at The Holiday Inn Bristol Airport

Although I did not eat in Restaurant 38 at The Holiday Inn Bristol Airport, I did have a meal and a snack from the bistro menu in the bar. The beer-battered haddock and chips was cooked to absolute perfection and although I had been ravenous when I ordered it, I only just managed to finish the very generous portion. The food prices are reasonable and I did hear several people commenting upon how much they had enjoyed their meal in the restaurant.
